Evaluation on the recycling of uniform, visualization of the quantity of exhausted CO2 with LCA, the sustainability and possibilities of these activities.
Chikuma has considered what is possible with uniforms. We set up the Environment Promotion Office in 1995 to develop uniforms that are environmentally friendly while maintaining functionality for workers. We began the EARTHINK® recycle system, establishing a system for recycling used uniforms. In 2004, Chikuma was certified as the first company accredited under National Permit System, which is a special scheme for recycling. We commenced used clothes collection and recycling activities in cooperation with Kitakyushu in 2014 as the first public-private used clothes recycling project in Japan
We at Chikuma will focus on the integration of the ideas of coexistence and co-prosperity in our corporate philosophy with the ideas of sustainability stated in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in our corporate activities for the uniform business to create a sustainable society.
Since the United Nations adopted SDGs, all corporate activities, including those by leading companies, even in advertising and communications fields, are required to consider sustainability in all their actions..
As a part of the EARTHINK® business, Chikuma will develop and promote environmental merchandise based on collection and recycling, and also give consideration to sustainability throughout the entire value chain.
We at Chikuma are trying to reduce environmental impacts multidirectionally. We have engaged in many eco-friendly activities, such as reducing carbon dioxide emissions at production sites, introducing hangers and packaging commonly used by manufacturers, and establishing batch deliveries in each area. We are also making efforts to enable environmentally conscious labeling, for example, for carbon footprint calculations and the EcoLeaf, for visualization to secure transparency and reliability of information.
